A school is celebrating its second anniversary after opening in the town on May 1, 2022.

Pioneer Secondary Academy (PSA) is a Sikh Faith school in Stoke Poges situated at the former Khalsa Secondary Academy - which closed in April 2022 after it was put into special measure by Ofsted.

Since its opening, the school has prided itself on cultivating a "calm atmosphere and nurturing high ambitions" for its students.

While no Ofsted report has yet been published for the school, parents have shared how their children are "supported" and are "excited to go in the morning and come back energised in the afternoon".

The Google reviews on the school also speak of "inspiring teachers" and their "willingness to help".

Pioneer Secondary Academy aims to provide a dynamic leadership team, dedicated staff, and a welcoming presence that embraces individuals of all faiths and backgrounds.

Their students are described as: “Confident, articulate young people who think carefully about their role in the world and display positive behaviour and attitudes."

Students are given opportunities for creative rein, including the student leadership council, which played a pivotal role in shaping the school's new logo and RAISE values (Respect, Aspire, Integrity, Seva, Equality), creating a culture of safeguarding where students feel comfortable approaching staff, mental health champions, or peers.

A spokesperson for the school said: "We firmly believe that student wellbeing and mindfulness are crucial for success.

"Therefore, we integrate these principles into every aspect of school life, ensuring our students are in the best possible setting to flourish academically and personally. "

There is a focus on preparing "tomorrow's leaders", with 21st-century skills with the help of role models and guest speakers, including Manisha Tailor, MBE; Bhupinder Singh Gill, the first Sikh-Punjabi referee in the Premier League; and Karenjeet Kaur Bains, Team GB's first-ever Sikh representative and a three-time gold medallist and BBC Gladiator.

“The past two years have been an enjoyable journey of growth and success," said executive headteacher Harmeet Sahota.

"Our school is a welcoming, calm and inclusive environment that celebrates diversity, including students from all faiths and none.

"Our RAISE values coupled with British values and our positive Sikh ethos create an environment where students can truly thrive and achieve outstanding results.

"Our curriculum is designed to deliver the highest quality of education. We go beyond academics, building leaders of tomorrow through personal development, enrichment, and our unique Combined Cadet Force (CCF) programme, which instils valuable leadership qualities, teamwork, and discipline."

The school will be welcoming 120 students into Year 7 for the next academic year, with student numbers having grown by 10 per cent since opening - making Pioneer Secondary Academy currently oversubscribed.
