A music festival, which is set to return after 10 years, has submitted a licensing application to the local authority.

Slough Mela wowed crowds when it took over Upton Court Park in 2014.

Now, the festival, organised by Bright Star Events, has asked Slough Borough Council for permission to use the park again.

In the premises application, Bright Star Events has stated their intention to use Upton Court Park for filming, outdoor music, recorded music and performance of dance between midday and 8:30pm on August 18 and 19.

The plans have now gone to public consultation until May 30, with anyone wishing to express their views encouraged to email licensing@slough.gov.uk.

Slough Mela was due to go ahead last year on August 6, 2023, but just one week before it was set to take place it was postponed "until further notice".

Now a year on, a new date has been given by the organisers, with tickets now on sale.

Slough Mela, which boasts it is the UK's largest Mela experience, is coming to town on Sunday, August 18, 2024.

"Mela" is a type of fair or festival, with Slough Mela aimed at celebrating culture and diversity.

Managing director of Asian Star Radio, Ray Siddique, previously said: "Slough Mela is a family festival targeting largely local residents.

"There hasn't been something here for some time - since the pandemic.

"This event should hopefully give the opportunity to local people to come and have a great day out."

The event will feature a fun fair, picnic area trade stands, a food court and live music.

Opportunities have now opened up for local businesses to become a part of the festival and showcase their products and services at stalls.

Any business owners looking to take part can email info@sloughmela.co.uk.

A lineup is set to be announced soon.
