Wokingham Town Council have helped mark 150 years of the British Beekeepers' Association (BBKA) with the planting of a new tree.
Deputy Mayor Rob Comber joined the Wokingham and District branch at a tree planting in King George V Playing Fields on Sunday, April 28.
The new Alder tree, gifted to the town by the BBKA, will not only provide food for the bees but also help improve the biodiversity within the park.
Those interested in Beekeeping are encouraged to get in touch with the Wokingham branch who have a training apiary where future beekeepers are taught basic, practical beekeeping skills in addition to a number of bee hives across the town.
The BBKA was founded in 1874 as a London-based beekeepers club, but within ten years it was a Nationwide organisation and today the BBKA has around 30,000 members.
